Product details

Working principal of planetary ball mill:

The DECO-PBM-V-0.4L planetary ball mill has four ball grinding jars installed on one planetary disk. When the disk rotates, the jars axis makes the planetary rotation in opposite directions and the balls in the tanks grind and mix samples in high-speed movement. The product can smash and blend various products of different materials and granularity with dry or wet methods. (Note: granularity of grand products is dependent on the material properties, size, and quantity of milling media and processing time. According to customer's feedbacks, minimum granularity can be as small as 0.1 um).

Standard Accessories of Lab Planetary Ball Mill

Please note: For this DECO mill, you require two or four grinding jars and the corresponding number of grinding balls. The grinding jar material must be harder than the material to be ground. In normal cases, the same material of grinding balls and jars are used. To shorten the grinding time, larger or heavier grinding jars and grinding balls with a higher density can be used.

And, the standard package of the mill doesn't include the grinding jars or balls. They must be ordered as accessories.

Example of comminution task:

Package: plastic wrapping, styrofoam and standard export carton.
GW: 40KG
Pack dimension: 610*370*370mm

FAQs:

1. What is the smallest particle size the Planetary ball mill can mill down to?

The smallest particle size our mill can mill down to is 0.1µm. However, the final fineness varies greatly with different materials. The actual grinding result depends on mill speed, ball size, material, and grinding time. You will be able to find the best combination after a couple of tries.

2. How to choose the right machine volume:

Alumina bullk density: 1 g/cm3

Volume = Mass / Density = 1 / 1 =1

As the grinding material covers 1/3 of the mill pot volume, mill balls cover 1/3 of the mill pot volume, and the left 1/3 for grinding space.

The mill pot volume : 3 * 1 = 3 L

We suggest 4L planetary ball mill machine.

3. When using planetary ball mill, how to select ball size and how much material should be taken in mill pot?

The ball size chosen depend on the impact energy requirement. Bigger balls help in size reduction if the feed particles are big like chunks. If the milling materials are powder, then smaller ball size is preferred.

There should be at least 25% empty place in the mill pot after feeding balls and materials.

There is no such thumb rule for powder to ball ratio. It is generally decided by nature of materials to be milled and ball size, ball to material weight ratio, milling time, RPM,etc

4. How to choose the right jar material?
The general rule is the jar must be harder than the material being milled. Most times stainless steel is sufficient, if the material can react with metal, then agate is good. Otherwise, zirconia is common.

5. How long will you deliver the goods after I place an order?
We will send the items within 7 days once your payment is completed. We do not guarantee delivery time on all international shipments due to differences in customs clearing times in individual countries, which may affect how quickly your products is inspected.

6. What's the warranty of the products?
For the ball mill machines, we offer you one year warranty. If any quality problems on our side occurred in this period, we will take on the shipping cost and replacement.

7. How can I choose a shipping method?
For small quantities, express of DHL/UPS/FedEx door to door service is the best; for bulk quantities, shipping by sea is the best but takes too much time. For urgent orders, we suggest shipping by Air to airport.
